Toy Story 4, in movie theaters now, brings known characters like Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and Jessie (Joan Cusack) alongside new toys like Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves), Forky (Tony Hale), Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele). Andy has taken his favorite toys back to Bonnie, who is preparing to start kindergarten. She is nervous about school and Woody wants to help while walking, even though toys are not allowed. His decision eventually leads the group on a journey away from home, as Woody is doing everything in his power to make Bonnie happy.
Toy Story 4, which debuts in US theaters on June 21, opens with a flashback scene from nine years ago showing a driving rain outside Andy's house. The incredibly realistic storm scene would not have been possible in previous movies, says Pauley. In fact, in the first movie Toy Story, the filmmakers wanted to create a rain storm in the scene where Woody and Buzz are stuck in Sid's room. But they were limited by the technology and the experience of the team.
Many critics and viewers have thought that Toy Story 3 was a perfect (though heartbreaking) end of the movie franchise. That's why some people - including filmmakers - were surprised by the fact that there would be a fourth installment.
